Welcome to A Sheng’s Notebook (asheng.fyi, “this site”). This policy also covers plugin purchases and licensing at the ASheng Store (license.asheng.fyi). It explains what information this site processes, how it is used, and what choices you have. By browsing this site or buying a plugin, you acknowledge the practices described below.
1. What this site collects
1.1 View counts (no personal identifiers)
This site runs a small counter built on Cloudflare Pages Functions. It records only how many times a page was opened and when counting began — shown as “Total views” in the sidebar and “Views on this note” on article pages. The counter sets no cookies, stores no IP addresses, builds no user profiles, and does not track you across other websites.
1.2 Third-party services
- Google Fonts: the web fonts (Noto Sans TC, Noto Serif TC) are served by Google Fonts. Loading a page sends a request, including your IP address, to Google; this is handled under the Google Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare: this site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and uses Cloudflare Web Analytics for anonymous traffic statistics (no cookies, no personal profiles). As the hosting and security provider, Cloudflare processes connection information such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the service — see the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
- Google AdSense: this site’s advertising service, described in the next section.
1.3 Data used when you buy and activate a plugin
- Email: when you buy a license by card (in TWD or USD), you enter an email address. We use it to send your license key, to bind the license to that email, and to handle refunds and support requests.
- Payment data: TWD payments are processed by ECPay; USD card payments are processed by Paddle, which acts as the reseller (merchant of record) for that order. You enter card details directly on their payment pages; this site never receives or stores them. They handle your data under their own privacy policies and send this site the payment result (such as order number, amount and status). See the ECPay privacy policy and the Paddle privacy policy.
- Crypto payments: when you pay in USDC, your wallet address and the transaction are recorded publicly on the Base blockchain. This is how blockchains work, and this site cannot delete that record.
- Computer identifier: when you activate a license, the plugin sends an identifier for that Mac. It is used to confirm which computer the license is bound to and to limit how often the license can move to another computer. It does not contain your name, files or other personal data.
2. Ads and cookies (Google AdSense)
This site shows ads through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners (third-party vendors) may use cookies to show you ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google uses advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads on its and its partners’ sites.
- Besides cookies, third-party vendors may also use web beacons or similar technologies.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com); you can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ advertising cookies at aboutads.info (www.aboutads.info).
- After opting out you will still see ads, but they will no longer be personalized based on your browsing history.
- For how Google uses cookies in advertising, see Google’s advertising technologies page; Google’s full data practices are described in the Google Privacy Policy.
- This site does not sell your personal data.
3. How data is used
- View counts: used only to show how much this site is read — in the sidebar and on article pages.
- Fonts and ads: handled by Google Fonts and Google AdSense under their own policies; this site does not access the contents of those cookies directly.
- Purchase data: your email is used only to deliver and verify your license and to handle refunds and support. We do not send marketing email, and we never sell or share it; order details are exchanged with ECPay or Paddle only as needed to process the payment.
- Retention: purchase data is kept until the license expires, plus any period required by accounting and tax law.
- Apart from the email entered when buying a license, this site has no member accounts and never asks you for other personal identifying information.
4. Your choices and rights
- Managing cookies: you can view, block, or delete cookies in your browser settings; blocking ad cookies does not affect reading this site.
- Opting out of personalized ads: use Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info, linked in the previous section.
- Disabling JavaScript: the counter and some features need JavaScript; with it off, view counts are not sent and reading is unaffected.
- Tracking protection: most browser extensions and private modes will automatically block this site’s counting requests and the analytics beacon.
- Access or deletion: email support@asheng.fyi to see or delete your purchase data. Once the email is deleted, license keys bound to it can no longer be activated. Transaction records that the law requires us to keep are excluded.
